[Art] Birthday Doodles

Happy Birthday, Haylee!
The very next day after some very bad news happened to be the birthday of my niece, who has been working as an intern at a hospital. In fact, when certain bad things happened, I was on the phone with my mom, discussing, among other things, what I should draw for my niece's birthday-doodle, as ONCE AGAIN I had horribly procrastinated on the whole thing. My mom sent me a photo of my niece in her hospital scrubs the moment before she went to see what was taking Dad so long to pick up the phone. I used that as inspiration for this doodle. I went for a quasi-anime-ish look. The whole thing was a rather hasty, slap-dash sketch, but these days that typifies my work. It was a bit of a challenge for me to get all the way through this one.

I am confident that my dad was proud of his granddaughter.



Cloven Hooves and Falling Leaves
I drew this for the writer of a short children's story that I did some illustrations for, a long time ago. He enjoys my unicorn-doodles, so I figured I'd do a unicorn doodle for his birthday. I haven't drawn too many of those in recent years, save for my hasty "last-unicorn-of-the-year" doodle quasi-tradition.

Yay for niece interning at hospital! Hope she is staying healthy.

Well, she recently was exposed to COVID and had to quarantine herself. :/ But she didn't actually show any symptoms.

I've gotten my flu and COVID booster shots now, just in case. Ow. Shoulder hurts something awful, and I feel miserable. I can only trust that I would feel MORE miserable if I didn't. (But of more immediate importance is that I've got a company meeting coming up, and my coworkers would appreciate it if I had my booster shot, so I'm going to take that seriously.)

Well, fortunately I feel a lot better now. I definitely was having that case of WHATEVER it is that usually happens after I get a COVID booster shot, but at least it didn't linger for more than a couple of days.

Glad to hear you're feeling better, and hope that your sister will not have anything more than mild symptoms, if she did catch it!
