[Art & Warcraft Stuff] March 2023 Doodles

♫ Beau-oootiful Sooo-oop! Soo-oop of the e-e-evening. Beautiful, beaut-FUL SOUP! ♫
Okay, so it's a bowl of soup. At this point, my most regular art project is probably just the doodles I've been drawing for the weekly food recipe. It doesn't require me to be logged into the game, it doesn't require any RP time, doesn't require me to take any screenshots -- I just need to get my directive on "This week, we're doing THIS," and I look up references, and draw it. In this case, it's a seafood soup.

IRL, we had a bit of a pinch because the house-restoration company declared that our house would be habitable by the end of February. So, the insurance company let us know that we'd be checking out of the hotel by that point. Also, they wouldn't be covering further rental of the storage units holding all our stuff, so I had to arrange for the PODS to be delivered back to the house. The trouble was that in reality, this "habitable" house still didn't have working plumbing, installed toilets, installed water heater, etc. Also, there were limited spaces where I could actually put all the boxes, bins, and junk while still allowing the restoration workers to do their thing. Fortunately, our friend Digital_Rampage came to our rescue (AGAIN) and provided us with "crash space" again for a while (and I'd spend a lot of my free time when not working going in and moving stuff) and a couple of rooms were "finished" enough that I was allowed to stack things up in there. As it so happened, there was also a convention in the intervening time, so we were at least able to help a little bit with cat-watching in our friend's absence. (Okay, so that's not strictly necessary at all, but we were happy to entertain cats.)

It was sometime in March that we'd actually gotten far enough along that the house had a floor, the walls were (mostly) painted, plumbing fixed, toilets installed, etc., and we could actually move back in. Our kitchen still didn't have a working sink, dishwasher, or even a countertop, because that was all yet to be installed, so we tried to avoid any sort of cooking that would create a lot of dirty dishes, and had to wash dishes in the bathroom sink, etc. A very awkward time, but it was still nice to be home again.

Also, we could have a wired internet connection, so I was able to hook up Gwendel's old PC and use it for gaming, and we could (le gasp!) actually be online at the same time, and participate in RP sessions again.

Goblin(?) Mastermind
Around this time, a recurring adversary was "Vu," a dragon of the Infinite Dragonflight who had a "visage" of a nicely-dressed female goblin. Her motives were always inscrutable, her demeanor grating, since she seemed to always be playing at doing some sort of elaborate Xanatos Gambit to manipulate the heroes into doing ... something. What? She'd only hint at it, and if she did, it was presumably in order to manipulate us into reacting in a particular way, because she'd already dealt with (alternate timeline) versions of us several times before. At times, it seemed she was trying to "help" us, but of course just to further whatever her scheme was.

Para-gnome-al Activity
One weird PC concept who was briefly with the guild was a gnome death knight. I.e., undead gnome. Well, actually, she seemed to be hinting that she was just a spirit that happened to be inhabiting the body of a gnome, so there was no telling what her "original" form was like. Anyway, she seemed to have a knack for suffering extreme damage, and replacing lost body parts with whatever happened to be "at hand." One time that resulted in a weird situation where she replaced a couple of lost arms with some "acquired" from a large defeated monster.

Strawberry Creme Brulee
Another weekly recipe picture. I made the doily by scribbling a design, mirror-flipping it, then copy-pasting and rotating it around to form a circular "lace" form, and then used perspective-warping in Photoshop to angle it to fit the apparent bottom of a drawing I did of a ramekin.

Monday Lasagna
Garfield's blessing and bane, all at once. Lasagna ... on a Monday!

Monk of the Jade Serpent
Yet another character who came and went. I don't even recall his name, and don't think he showed up to more than one session. But, hey, he had a cool outfit.

Vault Explorers
Members of a PC duo who would occasionally show up for RP sessions. One is a draenei archaeologist, and the other is her demon-hunter bodyguard/assistant.
